The inaugural meeting of the project: "Seniors without borders. Visegrad cooperation for the integration of seniors "

On May 30, 2018, at the seat of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation TRITIA in Zamek Cieszyn, was organized inaugurating meeting about the project "Seniors Without Borders. Visegrad cooperation for the integration of seniors. "

The meeting was attended by seven partner organizations from Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, taking care of people who are in functional dependencies. Among them were representatives of: Centrum Służb Socjalnych i usług dla seniorów Zákamenné (SK), Centrum Służb Socjalnych Horelica (SK), Powiatowego Domu Pomocy Społecznej Pogodna Jesień w Cieszynie (PL), Domu Pomocy Społecznej Betania w Cieszynie (PL), Centrum Służb Socjalnych Český Těšín, příspěvková organizace (CZ), Domu Spokojnej Starości Sv. Josefa w Ropicach (CZ), Domu seniorów pod patronatem św. Elżbiety, Konwentu Sióstr Elżbietanek w Jabłonkowie (CZ).

The project activities addressed to seniors, assume the organization of three one-day, therapy workshops. Thanks to these therapeutic workshops, seniors and their carers will have the opportunity to actively spend time in attractive in terms of cultural and natural places, as well as to integrate. These meetings will have an international character. It was initially agreed that the first workshops will be held on July 31.

In addition, as part of the project, it is planned to organize one-day trainings for medical caregivers of older people, nurses, therapists, management staff of institutions dealing with support and care for the elderly, and who are partners in this project. These trainings will focus on the subject of education about dementia and communication with seniors struggling with dementia diseases. These trainings will be conducted by the Possitive approach to care expert. PAC is an innovative, comprehensive education program on dementia and care in dementia, developed by Teepa Snow - currently the most valued expert on dementia in the North American continent. It will be run by a trainer specializing in this method, coming from Poland - Marlena Meyer. Thanks to these trainings, participants will acquire knowledge about the stages of dementia and provide support for seniors, so that they can maintain their fitness for as long as possible. Training was planned for October this year.
